AWS Full Cloud migration for Opera Ballet Vlaanderen

Opera Ballet Vlaanderen moved its entire IT infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) with NubeX: on-premise servers across four locations, plus a Digital Asset Management platform that previously ran on Microsoft Azure. After a cloud readiness assessment and a migration delivered on budget and on plan, NubeX ran the platform as a managed service, including disaster recovery.

Connectivity between 4 on-prem Locations: We've set up multiple VPN Connections to make sure all OBV locations are connected to AWS.

Operating System Patching Managed by NubeX: We make sure all Windows Server systems stay up to date with the latest security patches.

Disaster Recovery Exercises: We actively test our DR strategy together with all involved teams.

Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (operaballet.be) is one of the leading opera and ballet houses in the world. Its past is steeped in tradition; its present is alive with richly varied performances and events.

Choosing the right cloud

The project started with an extended cloud readiness assessment. Together with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, NubeX compared cloud platforms on both technical fit and cost. AWS came out as the clear best fit.

The migration

NubeX migrated all on-premise servers from four different locations to AWS, together with the Digital Asset Management platform that was originally deployed on Microsoft Azure. Site-to-Site VPN connections linked every location to the new AWS environment. The project was delivered on budget and according to plan.

Managed after go-live

Opera Ballet Vlaanderen chose to continue its cloud journey with NubeX. NubeX provided:

Cloud Platform Managed Services: patching, backup, licensing, monitoring and alerting
Cloud Billing Services
Service Desk and Service Delivery Management
Disaster Recovery as a Service, tested together with all involved teams

AWS services used

Amazon EC2, Amazon FSx for Windows File Server, AWS Site-to-Site VPN, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), Amazon S3, AWS CloudTrail and AWS Config.

It is a great pleasure partnering with the NubeX team: they do what they say and say what they do.
